Washington, DC, United States (4E) – Scarcely over a year into his tumultuous and endangered presidency, Donald Trump has been adjudged the worst president of the United States ever by a panel of 170 American political experts.
The 45th president of the United States came out 45th on the “Presidential Greatness Ranking” drawn up by members of the American Political Science Association (APSA), a professional association of scholars and political science professionals in the U.S.
Founded in 1903, APSA publishes three academic journals: American Political Science Review, Perspectives on Politics, and PS: Political Science & Politics). It’s based in Washington D.C.
The APSA experts were asked t0 rank the best-ever, worst-ever, and most mediocre-ever presidents.
Trump came out dead last. Ahead of him were reviled and incompetent presidents such as James Buchanan, William Henry Harrison and Franklin Pierce.
Abraham Lincoln was ranked the greatest president by the APSA scholars. He was given a Greatness score of 95.
George Washington came in at No. 2 (Greatness score 93) while Franklin D. Roosevelt was No. 3 (Greatness score 89). These rankings are unchanged from the last time this exercise was conducted in 2014.
Barack Obama, however, improved his ranking to No. 8 from No. 18, which will infuriate Trump. He had a Greatness score 71.
The top 10 greatest U.S. presidents are Lincoln, Washington, Roosevelt, Theodore Roosevelt, Thomas Jefferson, Harry Truman, Dwight Eisenhower, Obama, Ronald Reagan and Lyndon Johnson.
Trump’s Greatness score was a minuscule 12. Richard Nixon was ranked higher at number 33.
