Wolfsburg, Germany (4E) – For its tenth anniversary, the company now known as Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S., the successor to the original Automobiles Ettore Bugatti founded in 1909, has teased the image of its most expensive and mot exclusive sports car ever – the Bugatti Divo.
Expensive means upwards of $6 million per car. Exclusive means only 40 of these increbidly fast street monsters will be built. Those in the know say that despite these “roadblocks,” the Divo will sell-out the same day pre-orders for it are announced.
The Divo is being described by pundits as a souped-up Chiron, the immensely popular mid-engine, two-seat sports car first revealed in March 2016. Chiron has also lent its name to the current Bugatti era, the Chiron, which began in 2016 and which should last for the next 10 years if the example of the Veyron era is anything to go by.
This means the Divo will be of Chiron lineage. This new car is said to be faster than the Chiron (how fast hasn’t been revealed). It will supposedly handle better, with a Bugatti statement saying the car is “made for corners.”
The Divo will feature distinctive new design that underlines its driving dynamics. It will be lighter than the Chiron and more agile. This machine will generate more downforce and this more massive g-force promises significantly better handling, including at the corners. The Divo will share its platform and drivetrain with the Chiron.
“With the Divo, we want to thrill people throughout the world,” said Bugatti President Stephan Winkelmann. As if the sticker price wasn’t thrilling enough!
The Divo is named after Albert Divo, the driver who drove Bugatti Type 35s when he won the 1928 and 1929 Targa Florio race.
The world won’t wait very much longer for its first look at the Divo. This machine will be formally unveiled on Aug. 24 at the Quail Motorsports Gathering in California.
