Washington, DC, United States (4E) – Melania Trump’s first crack at decorating The White House for Christmas is here for the world to see, and some people are horrified at the result.
Some critics of the First Lady’s taste describe the White House decor as the “Nightmare before Christmas,” the 1993 American stop-motion animated musical dark fantasy film featuring ghosts, ghouls and all sorts of resurrected dead people.
Other critics say the decor looks “evil” and comes straight out of a horror movie.
The main subject of this Yuletide dislike is the East Colonnade leading to the East Garden Room decorated with towering white branches. Evening photos of the East Colonnade and its decorations are spooky and terrifying.
One critic noted that when the lights are turned-off, the hallway becomes one of the scariest in America.
It didn’t take long for netizens to troll the East Colonnade decor. One called the East Colonnade “Basically any episode of American Horror Story” while another saw it as “Snow White’s escape route from the Huntsman.”
But the entire White House Christmas trimmings weren’t all panned for their obvious lack of holiday spirit. Others received praise for their taste.
The Grand Hall and Cross Foyer are decorated in “The Nutcracker Suite” theme, with the trees featuring crystal ornaments to match.
The Blue Room Christmas tree, which is the official indoor White House Christmas tree, is covered in white lights, blue and gold ornaments, pine cones, and yards of blue velvet ribbon.
The decorations are all part of this year’s theme, “Time-Honored Traditions,” which celebrates 200 years of holidays at the White House.
