New York, NY, United States (4E) – Wall Street analysts predicted on Monday that Apple will release new iPhone models next year. Two iPhones, according to Nomura analysts, could be released: two with OLED screens and another with the LCD screen.
The new models, although would be similar to iPhone X released early this year, are expected to carry the True Depth Camera system and a 512GB storage.
“We think the focus for 2H18F new iPhones is to optimize those technologies in terms of performance and costs,” Nomura, in the note released to investors, said.
Apple may adopt bigger portfolio for its iPhone, the analysts said, instead of bringing in “more significant technology changes into new iPhones.”
Apple’s iPhone X was the first to use OLED, limiting power drain and give better and more vivid images.
Nomura said two new OLED iPhones have to be expected: one model with a 5.8-inch screen, which is of the same size of the current iPhone X; and the other one could larger at the 6.5-inch screen.
The specs, according to Nomura, of the new 6.5-inch and 5.8-inch OLED will be almost the same with the released iPhone X “except for the screen size and the support of dual physical SIM cards of the 6.5″ iPhone.”
It could also be expected that next year’s iPhones are 3D-sensing capable as an effect of the augmented-reality applications.
The third model is expected to have the iPhone X designs but will come with an LCD screen. This price-efficient iPhone, designed to target the mid-range segment of the market, will carry the facial recognition camera. It is expected to be priced between $650 and $900.
There is a caveat, however.
Nomura said that all the specs of the new iPhone models as predicted are “subject to change, as the new iPhone specs and suppliers will not be finalized before late-1Q or early-2Q18F.”
